If you visit the download page you can now get your hands on Lap-Time for CF3.1!
This version has a number of changes in it for you to enjoy. The menu system is now more logical, easier to navigate and should get you racing faster than before.
Racing is largely unchanged, but there are a few key changes in Performance Testing.
- No more 'One Mile' Tests. This wasn't popular enough to continue support, it was just cluttering the screen and making more work for me.
- Power Output Approximations! This is configured through advanced settings. You will need to include details on your car's weight, frontal surface area, wind drag and tyre drag, but don't worry, I'll be posting up some details soon so you can easily fill these out.
So what are you waiting for? Get downloading and check it out.

This release has been heavily tested (moreso than usual), so it should be quite reliable. But having said that, if you run into any problems don't hessitate to contact me through the Contact Us page.

It's been a long time since I've made any progress with Lap-time so I thought I'd post up a quick explanation.
I haven't heard any complaints about 1.3 so I haven't made any fixes to it. That is straightforward enough. So instead I have been developing the multiplayer component. This hasn't been as good as I had hoped. basically, the lag in everyday wireless internet is too big to make multiplayer useful. At the very best you can get an update in about 1.5seconds. It doesn't sound like much but on average it can take as much as 5-10 seconds which I'm not happy with.
Apart from that, I've had a lot of other things to keep me busy so my attention fell away from Lap-time. I'm going to re-focus now, back on the single player side of the plugin and flesh out the features a bit more.
The One Mile test will be replaced with One Kilometer. Although a few people have asked for custom tests instead, so I may end up going that route.
Another feature I'd like to play with is approximate power output. It will be VERY approximate as there are lots of variables you would have to know to get an accurate value, but I'm still willing to try it.
If anyone has any suggestions for what they want to see added/fixed in the next release, post them here or go to the Contact Us page.
Cheers,

So for the last week I've been holding off posting this just to be sure, but it appears I have completely stopped the CF crashing issue in my car altogether.
I just downloaded and installed the latest Prolific USB to Serial drivers. That's it.
It's a pretty logical conclusion considering I know not everyone is having this issue, but one way or another it does point the problem being outside Lap-time (and X-Port) which makes me feel better.
Here is a link to the drivers I used to fix my CF crashing woes while using XPort:
PL-2303 Software and Drivers
Note: Drivers last updated the 12th of Feb
If your hardware doesn't use a Prolific compatable chipset you may have to search elsewhere for your latest drivers.
Good luck!

Just a consideration for the next release, I'm wondering how many people have found the One Mile test useful at all?
I'm thinking it is too long and far too rare to find a track with a one mile straight in it that you can use for drag racing.
So I'm considering changing it for the next release, it will be swapped over to a One Kilometer test instead (Just over half a mile).
Anyone have any objections? Or would people prefer One km?1 Comments

It's been a long time since I've dished out an update and sadly this one only really contains bug fixes. But with all these out of the way I can move on to adding more enhanced features. But anywho, here is what has been fixed for this release:
- Fixed some Skin Issues with Aura (Results/Tests) - Fixed DateTime compatability problems. << This will cause your old recording to no longer load in the plugin, but they can still be uploaded to the website manually. If in doubt, upload any recordings you want to keep before upgrading to 1.3. - Added 'Rolling Starts' whenever you are in Practise Mode on a Circuit. All you have to do is cross the start line to begin lap-timing. Warning: This feature might not work! All other modes are unchanged. - (Hopefully) Easier to start laps/races on start position. - Improved compatability with XPort (still only 90%) and full compatability with GPS Gate. Warning: I experienced extreme lag using GPS Gate. You may need a high spec machine to run COM Port replication effectively with Lap-time.
If you have any questions about what is in this release or if you are having any issues, let me know asap!
Enjoy,
